[unrelated] At work each of us animators/compositors have a 1.5 terabytes video RAID attached our systems. My coworker came up to me after lunch today to tell me, "Dude, I have 3 megs of space left on my RAID. That's why my shit wasn't working."

The scary part of this exchange was that I acknowledged his problem, with a simple, "bummer". It didn't occur to me how crazy it is to use up 1.5tb, even in video application, (we only do TV work, not feature, so no massive long clips.)

What the fuck happened? Wasn't it a few years ago when the idea of having a 100gb worth of storage was fucking crazy? How did our media consumption go up so high so quickly?
